#ValoreD4STEM: it takes science to overcome the gender gap
Valore D’s #ValoreD4STEM project: what is it and how does it work?
The #ValoreD4STEM project aims to overcome the pay gap in the science and technology field. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects are still highly influenced by stereotypes and prejudices and suffer from a marked gender gap.
What does the project involve? #ValoreD4STEM implements a wide-ranging strategy that encompasses numerous initiatives, of which the most significant is the launch of the first survey in Italy that – thanks to the involvement of almost 7,500 people – analyzes STEM matters within the corporate organizational context.
The advertising campaign that promotes the #ValoreD4STEM project was rolled out in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and was covered by the main TV channels in Italy.
The Valore D initiatives that fall under the umbrella of the #ValoreD4STEM project include the first season of the Choices podcast, which tells the stories of those who have undertaken a career – often along a zig-zagging path – through the STEM field, and compiles the best corporate practices from Valore D’s network, offering a unique opportunity for organizations to engage with each other and providing an incentive to continue improving, implementing concrete actions in support of gender diversity in the STEM field.
