The manifesto on female employment: parity at work is a priority

Valore D’s manifesto: what is it and how does it work?

The manifesto is a policy paper on gender equality in the workplace. Its nine points define tangible tools in line with the indicators of the GRI standard to guide companies towards a reduction in the gender gap.

Businesses that decide to adopt Valore D’s manifesto commit to incorporating its good practices on the issues of gender diversity and job and career equality. In this way, companies opt to declare that overcoming gender inequality is a priority for them, and that as such they are committed to inclusive policies, reducing the gender pay gap, supporting parenthood, etc.

The manifesto was presented by Valore D in 2017 at the G7 meeting in Italy, with more than 30 CEOs in attendance and three government officials: Maria Elena Boschi, Undersecretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; Teresa Bellanova, Deputy Minister for Economic Development; and Tito Boeri, Chair of the Social Security Service (INPS). Valore D has thus made available, to companies and to the country as a whole, its own contribution on key issues such as innovation and the impact of gender diversity on growth, development and sustainability.

Adopting the manifesto also involves monitoring the progress made in the fields of diversity and inclusion. Accordingly, on 11 September 2018, one year after signing, 30 CEOs and chairs of the signatory companies met to evaluate the results achieved in relation to the nine points of the manifesto and to share the challenges yet to be addressed.

Valore D’s manifesto has already been signed by more than 160 companies and by 6 employers’ unions: Confindustria Lazio, Confindustria Puglia, Confindustria Canavese, Confindustria Genova, Confindustria Venezia and Conflavoro.

What social impact is the manifesto having? Let’s take a look at some interesting facts and figures.
